Weekend Homework Project

So, now that you've filled your home with bright colours and bold patterns (see IN THE MIX), you've probably got a few pieces left over, far too beautiful to throw out.

What to do with those pretty pieces?

Here's a quick little weekend project for you to try.  It's easy as pie and actually does look good when you're done.  Trevor and Curtis (and every other designer on earth) have used this little trick to stretch a design budget.  When there's no money left for art...make art!

Here's what you'll need:

1. Colourful, uniformly sized, pieces of fabric (one piece / frame)
2. One or more gallery style frames (Nexxt or Ikea have great, inexpensive frames)
3. Someone handy with a hammer to hang your finished masterpiece(s)!

Your finished project may look something like this!

Mystery Showhome Wonder Walls

Time is f-l-y-ing by and we are one week closer to unveiling the Mystery Showhome.  All of the furnishings have arrived and, although there is still a LOT of work to be done, we are starting to see everything come together.  Our favorite part is seeing the wallpapered rooms once they're furnished.  We love the texture, drama and personality that wallpaper adds to a room and especially love how the Mystery Showhome wallpapers relate to the character of the rooms and everything in them.

Here's a sneak peek of the papers we've chosen for the Mystery Showhome.

Drama in the Mystery Showhome Den - This gold-on-black trellis pattern is the perfect foil for dark furnishings and a stunning gold pendant fixture.

 

  

This gorgeous paper is described as "A composition of perfume bottles made of precious metals and variegated stones set on shelves against a trellis".   Perfect with the Beehive Pendant and Perfect for the Mystery Showhome Powder Room.

A sneak peek at the Mystery Showhome Dining Room as it starts to come together.  The beautiful silvery-grey of this grasscloth wallpaper (see close up image below) sets an elegant tone and is a lovley compliment to our custom chinois drapery.

Mystery Showhome Weeks Away

The Mystery Showhome is a flurry of activity!  This week and next will see the house filled with almost every trade that has a hand in the project.  It is a very stressful time, making sure everything has arrived and that everything is installed the way we had planned.

This week all the light fixtures are being installed, and we are very happy with how they are transforming the look of the house.  With each new fixture hung, the vision in our minds is coming ever so close to reality!

"Mystery Showhome" Opens TOMORROW

An Invitation from Atmosphere Interior Design

Working on the "Mystery Showhome", The 25th Anniversary Hospital Home Lottery, has been a huge undertaking for us. Designing a 3200 sq.ft. home and having it completed in roughly 6 months is incredibly challenging. For clients, a project with this much attention to detail can take 10-12 months just in construction time, not including the extensive amount of planning and preparation time that is needed.

 

Our goal was to create a showhome in Saskatoon that would create buzz and excitement within the community and be something that would be remembered for years to come. We are extremely proud of what we have created and are even more excited that we have been able to use our creative energy for such a great cause.  Our hope is that our clients, friends and interior design fans visit the home and help us make the 25th Anniversary Hospital Home Lottery the best it has ever been.

 

Thank you to all of our suppliers who helped us stretch our budget as much as we did, this home would not have been possible without your support!

 

To the winner of the home, we wish you luck with the polishing of the marble, mirror, chrome and glass - we know it will need some love and attention. After months of late nights and long hours when we locked the door and drove away, we were relieved that we were done, however sad that it was no longer "ours". We hope you treasure living there as much as we have had imagining it for you!
